Who are we?

Saturday 5th September 2009 at 10.00am - Annual Pilgrimage"Visit to Colchester"At the invitation of Fr Alexander Haig, this visit to the Orthodox chapel of St Helen, Maidenburgh Street, Colchester has now been arranged for Saturday 5th September. Those going from London by train will take the 10am from Liverpool Street, arriving Colchester at 10.49. The provisional programme in Colchester is:11am to 11.15 arrival at St Helen?s11.30 Service, followed by talk on the chapel12.30 Picnic lunch (bring your own) in the castle park if fine, with members of the NE Essex branch of the Fellowship1.30 Time available for visiting Colchester Castle and its museum, and/or part of the Roman Wall3pm Tea and departureColchester was Britain?s first Roman City. St Helen and her son, St Constantine the Great, were both born there. The chapel has some Roman foundations, the building itself being probably of Saxon origin. Colchester Castle is nearby and has an interesting museum.
